Here at Hangman Hill

Today is “black cat appreciation day”, so we are spending the evening with our feline friends Hary and Chatra.  It is for real….see https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/black-cat-appreciation-day/

Bruno’s parents, Nick and Pam spend a week with us at the Chalet in New Hampshire. One of the highlights was a ride on the cog railway to the summit of Mt Washington.  After several days of unsettled weather we were very happy to wake up to sunny skies on the day of our scheduled trip.  The ride on the train was relaxed and enjoyable. Once at the top we took a tour of the Mt. Washington Observatory (MWO).  We learned about the history of recording the weather on the top of Mt Washington and sources of the extreme weather.  We were surprised to learn that the highest recorded temperature on the summit of Mt Washington is 72F.  We didn’t get to meet Marty the cat who lives at the summit.  However, we did see the living quarters where Marty, a full time staff, several interns and a couple of volunteers stay while working at the MWO.

We met this tiny creature on our morning walk with Kokee.

The garden is doing very well and the FoP this week features kale, blueberries, tomatoes, cucumber and eggplant. We also have beets coming in and beans are days away!

We have really enjoyed the first half of the 2015 Granite Theater season. The shows have been great so far and we really enjoy the chance to spend time with Gene and Kathy. Last weekend we dined out along the Pawcatuck River before the play, “Shakespeare in Hollywood”. The play was laugh out loud funny and the young woman who played Puc stole the show.

We are looking to the next show I a few weeks when Bruno's parents are here.

Over the July 4th weekend we finished installing the kitchen cabinets at the chalet and we are now eagerly awaiting the delivery of the counter-tops. We may be able to have real indoor plumbing soon…..
