Last week we made an early season visit to the Olympia Tea Room for dinner. It was a nice evening, so we were able to have cocktails outside before eating. After dinner we went to the Granite Theater in Westerly to take in a show. Summer is almost here!
Happy Easter!
Furniture shopping
This afternoon we headed out to order living room furniture for the chalet in New Hampshire. Now all we need to do is install a floor in the living room before it arrives! As it is mud season (the snow is rapidly melting) we should be able to fit in a few weekends of home renovation and decorating in April and May.
Fun in the sun
We spent the first day of our thirteenth year together with some spring riding. We were surprised to find such great conditions at Bretton Woods. We hoped for 1-2 runs with a hike as a back-up plan but in fact we had a full day. We shared the slopes with only a few and were able to carve some big turns. We had the mid mountain lodge to ourselves (it was closed for the season) and had a picnic on the deck with views towards Mt Washington which still has plenty of snow.
We are thinking of coming back this summer for some zip lining!
Hot Club of Cowtown
On Friday night we had the pleasure of listening to Hot Club of Cowtown, a lively band from Austin Texas at The Kate in Old Saybrook, CT. The threesome played two long sets that kept our toes tapping and big smiles on our faces. Their joy for the music was so evident, and their energy contagious. The are a talented group and highly recommend seeing them perform live if you ever have the chance.
Mother’s Day in the UK
After many hours in a car last week a evening walk at Barn Island is just what we needed
Bruno’s 48th birthday
Yesterday (Saturday) was Bruno’s 48th birthday. He celebrated with a few outdoor jobs and with the return of Sheri (and Kokee) from their latest trip to the mid-west to re-locate Jerry closer to family.
The outdoor work consisted of moving half-a-dozen enormous logs that had been left behind when the electric company came to our street in December cutting trees that were too close to the power lines. The biggest tree (an oak tree) was nearly 4ft across at the base and the mess left behind was considerable. In the process of removing the tree some of our stone walls suffered quite a bit of damage. With the help of neighbor Mark and his tractor all the logs were moved out of the way and the biggest rocks were placed next to the wall for a re-building party later in the year.
In the evening Mark and Jen took us to the new Broad Street Bistro in Pawcatuck. It was busy (and loud!), but we had a very nice evening. After dinner we went back to Mark and Jen’s place for a more peaceful dessert of homemade Bourbon Cake and ice-cream. It was delicious!
Thanks to all of you who sent greetings via the post, email and Facebook. It is very much appreciated!
